The Hawks in the Eastern Cape has confirmed that a ransom demand has been made for the safe return of Kelvin Naidoo.
Naidoo, who is the Vice President of the Nelson Mandela Bay Business Chamber, was kidnapped outside his workplace in Lindsay Road in Gqeberha on Friday morning.
Hawks spokesperson, Captain Yolisa Mgolodela says the ransom demand was made, mere hours after the kidnapping took place.
The police does not disclose the ransom amounts asked for.
According to Mgolodela, the Hawks have been "on their toes" trying to find Naidoo.
"We want to appeal to anyone who has any information to come forward," she said.
The 51-year-old Manufacturing and Technical Executive of Auto X stopped at his workplace at about 6 am in Korsten, when a Nissan NP200, without number plates, bumped into his vehicle forcing him to stop.
Another bakkie stopped behind him and five suspects with balaclavas got out and pulled Naidoo out of his Mercedes Benz.
He was shoved into a getaway vehicle and his kidnappers fled the scene.
