Buffalo City executive mayor, Zukiswa Ncitha, announced her municipality's budget for the new financial year in East London on Friday.
The total budget allocation is R5.2bn with road upgrades and rehabilitation given a big slice of the pie.
Speaking at a council open day, mayor Ncitha said R130m had been set aside for community services which include the development and upgrading of community halls, as well Waterworld.
Meanwhile, the DA's Kobus Botha says the challenge now lies in implementation of the key priority areas.
"As the DA we are generally happy with the areas of priority and we think that the challenge now for the ANC doesn't lie in planning but turning the planning into reality. This means that they've got to step up their internal capacity and ensure that implementation of the key priority areas take place," he said.
