R1.45 million allocated to Bayworld


 The Eastern Cape Department of Sport, Recreation, Arts and Culture has allocated the Bayworld Museum R1.45 million for the 2014/15 financial year.

Last year Provincial Planning and Treasury provided the museum with an R8 million financial injection for the refurbishment of the museum which was reopened in September last year.

The department’s budget for the next three years indicates that Bayworld will receive R1.5 million in 2015/16 and R1.58 million the following year.

The Port Elizabeth Opera House has been allocated R1.8 million for the next financial year, an amount the will decrease to R1.3 million in the following financial year.

The three-year budget projects indicate that in 2016/17 the Opera House will receive R1.369 million.

The department’s budget shows that the Uitenhage Museum will receive R185 000 for the 2014/15 financial year, an allocation that increases to R200 000 and R211 000 in the following two financial years.
