The Knysna Municipality will host an E-waste Open Day in Sedgefield on 20 March at the Town Hall for residents to dispose of their E-waste the responsible way.
Knysna Municipal Manager, Lauren Waring says during the open day, any old or broken electronic equipment and electric components and appliances will be disposed of by a recognised service provider free of charge, and in a legal way.
She says the Eden District Municipality will manage the on-going E-Waste disposal project covering George, Mossel Bay, Knysna, Oudtshoorn, Bitou, Hessequa and Kannaland.
Waring says the E-Waste projects will tie in with a school waste management educational program launched by the Eden District Municipality in 2010.
She says information material on E-Waste will be made available to schools and on the Knysna Municipal website soon.
