A former quantity surveyor at the Port Elizabeth regional office of the global construction company, WBHO, appeared in the PE Specialised Commercial Crimes Court on Wednesday on charges of defrauding the company of R2.3 million.
Loyiso Bomvana was released on R2 000 bail and will be back in court on the 7th of September.
He’d been arrested by the Hawks earlier in the day.
The National Prosecuting Authority says a businessman, who is still at large, entered into a sub-contracting agreement with WBHO to perform services on a site where Bomvana was the quantity surveyor.
Bomvana allegedly colluded with the businessmen to defraud WBHO out of R2.35 million between November of 2017 and September of 2018.
The businessman, with assistance from Bomvana, allegedly furnished invoices to WBHO which were inflated and not a true reflection of the services rendered.
