A female pupil has died and 19 others were seriously injured when their bakkie overturned on the N2 between Mount Ayliff and Kokstad.
Provincial traffic spokesperson, Tshepo Machaea, says the driver overtook another vehicle and lost control and fell from a bridge at about four o'clock Wednesday afternoon.
The injured were were taken to the Mount Ayliff hospital.
Machaea says the driver has been arrested and charged with murder and drunken driving.
He says the man had a bottle of whiskey.
The driver will appear in the Mount Ayliff Magistrate's Court on Thursday.
