East London police have issued a warning to members of the public to be cautious when approached by people posing as police officials.
Spokesperson,Captain Mluleki Mbi says people should always request a police certificate or a police badge as proof.
Mbi says the warning follows a number of farm attacks in the Komga area by suspects posing as policemen.
"When they are approached by the police and they are in doubt they must demand identification" he said.
Mbi added that just because someone is wearing a police uniform it does not mean they are.
Police confirmed that there was an attack on a farm in the Kouga area where the suspects pretended to be police.
They reportedly told the victim that they were looking for a farm worker to question him about a crime.
