Public Protector Thuli Madonsela still hasn't made a decision regarding the Amathole District Municipality's sanitary tender probe.
DA parliamentary leader Mmusi Maimane and the EFF in the Eastern Cape wrote to Madonsela calling for a probe into the awarding of a R631-million sanitation tender to Johannesburg based company Siyenza Group, to build about 66 000 toilets in villages in various Municipalities in the Amathole district.
According to he Daily Dispatch, it's alleged that the company is linked to some of the ANC's top officials, including Secretary-General, Gwede Mantashe.
A three-week investigation by the paper has found that proper procurement processes were not followed, which the municipality has admitted.
The ADM said in a statement last week that it had consulted with the Municipal Infrastructure Support Agency, in the planning stages of the project.
It transpired that MISA was implementing a similar sanitation back-log eradiction programme in the Northern Cape and had been satisfied with the Siyenza Group following a competitive bidding process.
In the statement the ADM said it had never been aware of any political involvement in the programme.
The Public Protector's Acting Spokesperson Oupa Segalwe said that the Public Protector must first communicate with complainants and respondents.
"The Public Protector must first communicate to the parties, because the complainants have made it known in the public that they have approached the Public Protector, so the Public Protector must first inform the complainants and respondents about what her decision is."
