Public Protector, Thuli Madonsela, has found that former Eastern Cape Social Development MEC, Pemmy Majodina, had been overpaid in terms of the subsistence and travel allowance for a trip she undertook to New York in 2012.
Madonsela on Wednesday released her findings of the probe following a complaint by the Congress of the People.
In her 16 page finding, Madonsela found that Majodina, the current MEC for Sport, Recreation, Arts and Culture, had been paid over 18-thousand rand in S&T instead of the 10-thousand-600 she was entitled to interms of the law.
Madonsela also found that she had reeceived an additional 15-thousand rand to top up the initial amount that she received at the start of the trip, which she said was irregular.
She's recommended that Eastern Cape premier, Phumulo Masualle, take disciplinary action against Majodina for the violation of provisions of the Executive Ethics Code.
Madonsela's also directed that the provincial director general ensure that all departments have approved policy frameworks to regulate travel abroad before the end of the month.
