The Nelson Mandela Municipality says it will be working around the clock to eradicate reported water leaks across the Metro.
The Municipality has introduced a R15 million water leaks project with a tight turn-around time of 12 hours.
The project, headed by Mayoral Committee Member for Infrastructure and Engineering, Andile Lungisa, began earlier this month.
Every month, the Metro loses 28% of its total water consumption to water leaks.
Municipal spokesperson, Mthubanzi Mniki says 1 119 water leaks have already been fixed from the 15 000 backlogs.
