Project Mthombo, the multi-billion Rand oil refinery planned for the Coega Industrial Development Zone is still on the agenda.
That's the word from Eastern Cape Premier Phumulo Masualle, speaking ahead of delivering his State of the Province Address on Friday.
He said the project remained one of the Strategic Integrated Projects planned for the Eastern Cape.
The project is a joint initiative by Petro-SA and Chinese State oil company Sinopec., with funding from the Industrial Development Corporation.
Masualle added that the Port of Ngqura and Coega IDZ have been identified for over-flows from Saldanha Bay with respect to oil rig repairs.
