Eastern Cape Transport MEC, Thandiswa Marwaru will launch a skills development flagship project and issue learner's and driver's licences to people living with disabilities in Port Elizabeth on Thursday.
The project is an initiative of the Transport Education and Training Authority in a bid to address the skills development challenges in the transport sector.
The department says a Memorandum of Understanding will be signed between the Eastern Cape Department of Transport and TETA, which will lead 500 youths receiving training to obtain their Codes 10 and 14 drivers' licences.
A further 40 youths will be trained in diesel mechanics.
The project is being run in conjunction with the Coega Development Corporation.
