Privately owned ambulance set alight in Motherwell

Police in Gqeberha are investigating a case of malicious damage to property after an ambulance that was bought privately at an auction was torched in Motherwell.

Spokesperson, Captain Gerda Swart, says the owner from Paterson had popped in at his brother's house in Ngedle Street, in Unit 11, on Wednesday morning when the incident happened.

She says a group of about 40 people allegedly began stoning the ambulance, before pulling the man out of the vehicle.

Swart says they set it alight before they fled the scene.

No arrest have been made and investigations continue.

The motive behind the incident is not known at this stage.
