The hunt is on for a prisoner who escaped from St Albans medium B correctional centre on Thursday.
The Department of Correctional Services says 29 year old Ayanda Makasi vanished while he was working with other inmates at a chicken project in the prison precinct.
Department spokesperson, Zama Feni, says Makasi was serving a 7 year sentence for robbery with aggravated circumstances.
Feni says Makasi is from Motherwell in Port Elizabeth.
Anyone who may know his whereabouts should contact the police or prison officials.
