Port Elizabeth's Humewood beach has regained its blue flag status, after losing it because flood damage in October.
Municipality spokesperson Mthubanzi Mniki says following the flood damage, the municipality had been unable to meet the November deadline.
However, they requested an additional month to complete the rehabilitation of the metro's beaches.
The blue flag will be hoisted at Humewood beach at eleven o'clock.
The right to fly it at a beach is granted by the Wildlife and Environmental Society of South Africa, which handles the Blue Flag programme nationally.
It is in recognition for sound environmental management, environmental education initiatives, safety and security for beach users and healthy sea water quality.
