The Presidency says President Jacob Zuma has received a request from the South African Council of Churches in Mthatha to intervene in the Walter Sisulu University labour dispute.
Spokesperson, Mac Maharaj said in a brief statement that Zuma was looking into the matter and has appealed to all affected parties to strive for an amicable solution.
The institution has been at a virtual standstill for the past 5 weeks because of a strike by University employees.
Last week Walter Sisulu University management closed its four campuses because of the labour unrest.
