Eskom Eastern Cape General Manager, Thys Moller says the emergency declared on Thursday morning over possible power cuts will last until at least 22:00 on Thursday evening.
Moller says the situation will be re-assesed.
"The emergency will last until 22:00 on Thursday night when we will re-asses the situation, that has brought about 3000 MW that we are short. Through the implementation of rotational load shedding we are getting assistance from all our customers including industrial, domestic, commercial and mining customers across the country. A similar situation in the Eastern Cape where we are getting contribution from the municipality where they are shedding load on their networks." says Moller
