A post mortem will be conducted on Tuesday to determine the exact cause of death of a teenager from Little Brak River whose body was found on Saturday.
Police said the girl's body was found near Power Town by family members and a female friend. It had been covered with a carpet, leaves, sticks and dirt.
Captain Bernadine Steyn says the circumstances surrounding the girl's death are being investigated.
Seventeen-year-old Lesley Ann Maya went missing a little more than a week ago from her home in Power Town.
Steyn says anyone who may have information that can assist the police investigation should contact the Great Brak River Police.
Earlier the victim's mother spoke to AlgoaFM news about her anguish of her daughter being missing and pleaded with her on the radio to come back home.
She was wearing her pyjamas when she was last seen.
