A 30-year-old Zimbabwean man, Rendy Usen, appeared briefly at the Cala Magistrate’s Court on Monday on a charge of murder.
He was arrested last week for the brutal murder of 23-year-old Zandile Dudumashe, in Cala.
The discovery of her body parts sparked outrage by the local community who attacked four shops belonging to foreign nationals.
The situation is calm and police are still maintaining a strong presence.
Provincial police spokesperson, Lieutenant Khaya Tonjeni, says the case was remanded to the 28th of April pending a formal bail application.
"The suspect remains in custody. Police have maintained high visibility in to prevent any further incidents of vandalism of foreign owned shops in the area." says Tonjeni.
