Positive Covid cases in Garden Route surpass 5 000

There are currently more than 5,100 active Covid-19 cases in the Garden Route.

The Western Cape Department of Health released this figure on Monday and said there had been a 10% increase in new cases over the last seven days.

The department says the quarantine and isolation facility at PetroSA in Mossel Bay is currently under pressure as well as all the district hospitals, including the George and Mossel Bay provincial hospitals.

To date, more than 67,000 doses of vaccine have been administered in the Garden Route.
