Schools in Schauderville and Korsten in Port Elizabeth remained closed on Friday.
They closed their gates earlier this week in protest against teacher shortages.
The chairperson of the School Governing Body of Frank Joubert Primary School, Isaac Barendse, says the Eastern Cape Department of Education, has been given up until Friday to appoint teachers at their schools.
Isaacs says School Governing Bodies and principals will meet again on Monday to assess the situation.
Schools are expected to re-open then.
Barendse also says that a meeting to re-structure the SGB forum in the entire Northern areas has yet to take place.
