Quick action by Port Elizabeth police has led to the arrest of four suspects who allegedly try to flee a police roadblock.
Police spokesperson, Captain Johan Rheeder, says police in unmarked vehicles chased after the men, who sped into the parking lot of a centre in Stanford Road, opposite Livingstone Hospital.
He says two suspects were arrested in the parking area, a third in the grounds of Livingstone Hospital and the fourth about 100 metres near the N-2 freeway.
Rheeder says a firearm was recovered.
He also says that the white Nissan bakkie that the men were driving, had been hijacked in Walmer on Friday morning.
The four, who apparently all had gloves on, will appear in court soon.
