Algoa Park police detectives in Port Elizabeth are appealing to the community to come forward with information that may help them catch the killers of a 37-year-old man in Missionvale.
Colonel Priscilla Naidu says Welile Yamaphi was shot and killed while sleeping in his home in Tromp Street at around 2.30 yesterday morning.
Colonel Naidu says its believed that unknown suspects forced opened the back door and security gate of Yamaphi’s home and shot him in his bedroom.
He was found lying on the floor in his room with multiple gunshot wounds after neighbours were awoken by the sound of gunfire.
The deceased was a security officer at a local hospital.
The motive and suspects are unknown at this stage and a case of murder is under investigation.
