A 53 year old man was shot dead at about 8 o'clock on Monday night in Sangxa street, NU3 in Motherwell, Port Elizabeth.
According to the 17 year old son of the deceased, who was coming from the back yard flat to the main house, the suspects are three unknown men.
Police spokesperson, Constable Mncedi Mbombo, say two of the men forced the mother and four children aged 11 to 22 years, into a room.
They took a Plasma TV and instructed them to stay inside while the husband was talking to the third suspect in another room.
The suspect demanded money and a bank card from him and that's when a shot went off.
Constable Mbombo says family members rushed into the room to find the father lying on the ground with a bullet wound to the face.
The suspects fled with the plasma TV, and the deceased's firearm and bank card.
A case of murder and house robbery is under investigation.
