A bus strike is looming in Nelson Mandela Bay.
Algoa Bus company said in a brief statement on Monday that negotiations had deadlocked in the South African Road Passenger Bargaining Council.
The company said unions have now issued a 48-hour strike notice, with industrial action scheduled for Wednesday if no agreement is reached before then.
The trade unions have reportedly rejected the wage offer from bus employes of a 7% increase in year one, with hikes of 7.25% and 7.5% for the two following years.
Algoa Bus said all its services will be suspended accordingly pending further notice.
