One of the oldest buildings in Graaff-Reinet was engulfed in a fire in the early hours of Sunday morning.
The Coldstream Restaurant has been a significant part of the town’s history as it is housed in the northern wing of a historical building established in 1880.
The building also forms part of the historical Graaff-Reinet Club established in 1875.
Police spokesperson Captain Bradley Rawlinson says nobody was injured in the fire and confirmed that the matter was reported to police, however, a case is yet to be registered.
The establishment said on its Facebook page that the main restaurant and dining room were destroyed in the fire but the club had not been severely damaged.
