The SA Police Service says its 23rd Police Music and Cultural Association in Nelson Mandela Bay had been a success.
The event, reportedly costing around R4m, was held at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium and NMMU's Missionavale campus over three days ending on Saturday.
"This prestigious annual festival was launched in 1992 with the understanding that music is the only language that could bridge the gap between all the different Police Agencies. Since then POLMUSCA has gone from strength to strength. This year marked the 23rd anniversary of the association of which the hosting has been rotating between the nine Provinces and SAPS Head Office," a statement from the SAPS said.
"Different cultural activities that were on offer this year included potjiekos, cultural exhibitions, and traditional dancing. "
On Friday 18 and Saturday 19 September 2015, all provinces competed against each other in the a choral music and ballroom dancing categories.
Results from the different Polmusca events were recorded as follows:
Choral Competition: overall winner was KwaZulu-Natal, followed by Head Office while Eastern Cape obtained position three.
Battle of the Bands: position one was Mpumalanga, followed by Head Office while Western Cape obtained position three.
Traditional Dance: North West came top, followed by Eastern Cape while Northern Cape obtained position three.
Ballroom Dance: North West came top, followed by KwaZulu-Natal while Free State obtained position three.
Exhibition Stands: Limpopo came top, followed by Northern Cape while KwaZulu-Natal obtained position three.
Potjiekos: Eastern Cape came top, followed by Western Cape while Free State obtained position three.
