Opposition councillors walked out of a special council meeting to approve the Oudtshoorn municipality's budget and Integrated Development Plan on Tuesday.
The DA and Cope councillors cited the fact that Speaker John Stoffels did allow them time to put forward various motions.
Municipality spokesperson, Ntobeko Mangqwengqwe says the opposition councillors refused to return - even after the municipal manager and the Speaker granted them 30 minutes to reconsider.
Oudtshoorn Mayor, Gordon April, expressed his disbelief at the actions of the parties, saying their current majority in council placed them in an good position to have had a DA-attuned budget approved.
