The South African Police Service in the Eastern Cape has strongly condemned a recent revenge attack and issued a stern warning to members of the community, not to take the law into their own hands.
Police spokesperson, Capt. André Beetge says the warning came after a 24-year-old woman was allegedly raped and murdered by three men in bushes between Wells Estate and Bluewater Bay, Port Elizabeth, on the 2nd October.
He says on Tuesday, a group of community members of Wells Estate allegedly assaulted a 21-year-old man to death.
Beetge says they alleged that he was one of the three men who was involved in the attack.
He says police are following good leads and arrests into the revenge attack are expected soon.
