A 43-year-old policeman stationed at the Bethelsdorp police station was found murdered in his home in Wells Estate, Port Elizabeth.
Police Spokesperson Captain Andre Beetge says Sergeant Linda Mzuko had several bullet wounds to his neck and body and his official firearm is missing.
Beetge says Mzuko's estranged wife, Neliswa, who works as an operator at the 10111 centre, made the gruesome discovery on Friday night.
She found his front door open and upon entering made the gruesome discovery.
Police suspect that his firearm was stolen by his killers and that he was murdered on Thursday.
Anybody with information is requested to come forward.
