Police from three provinces, including the Eastern Cape, have seized R13-million worth of suspected counterfeit goods, cycads and drugs in a joint cross-border operation.
Police spokesperson, Captain Malcom Pojie, says members from the Eastern, Western and Northern Cape, took part in the operation from the 30th of June to the 4th of July.
He says the operation also focussed on curbing the illegal transportation of stolen goods, firearms and counterfeit goods.
Pojie says they made over 500 arrests during the week-long operation.
He says one of the biggest perlemoen busts was also made when two suspects were arrested for the possession of 5.5 tons of perlemoen with an estimated value of R9.5 million.
Pojie says police also confiscated 23 cycad bulbs with an estimated value of R1.17 million.
