The Port Elizabeth gang task team is investigating the murder of a teenager who was shot and killed in Schauderville on Saturday night.
Police spokesperson, Colonel Priscilla Naidu, identified the victim as 16-year-old Kyle McCarthy.
"It is alleged that on Saturday, 27 August 2016 at about 19:20, Kyle McCarthy (16 years) and a friend were standing in Highfield Road Shauderville when a LDV Caddy approached them. One person got out and ran towards the duo," she said.
"Several shots were fired at the victims who scattered in different directions. McCarthy was shot in the neck. He ran into the house where he collapsed and died. The suspect got into the vehicle and drove off."
"According to witnesses, the suspect and the deceased friend (who was with him at the time) were involved in an altercation earlier in the evening.
The motive for the shooting is personal however the Gang Task Team is investigating a case of murder," Naidu said.
