EC man and grandchild perish in fire

An Eastern Cape grandfather and his young grandson have perished tragiclly in a fire that had engulfed their home near Centane.

Police spokesperosn, Captain Jackson Manatha, says four other grandchildren of the 63-year-old man managed to escape Friday night's blaze.

Manatha says the cause of the fire which broke out in a house in Qhina Village is under investigation.

The names of the grandfather and his 10-year-old grandson have not yet been released.
