Police make several arrests as foreign owned shops are looted in Walmer Township

Port Elizabeth police say several people have been arrested for looting foreign owned shops in Walmer Township.

This, as the service delivery protest by residents appears to be escalating on the second day.

A report back meeting that was scheduled for Tuesday morning by executive mayor, Zanoxolo Wayile, has been postponed because residents were demanding that the 18 people arrested on Monday be freed.

Community leader, Mbulelo Keye, confirmed that residents were waiting for the others to be released.

He also confirmed several incident inside the township.
