Gqeberha police have issued a warning to the public after a man died in hospital after being shot during a robbery at St Georges Strand on Friday evening.
Police spokesperson, Colonel Priscilla Naidu, said the 45-year-old deceased was found outside his Datsun Go at around 18.30 after police responded to a report of a shooting at the beach parking area.
She said the victim died later in hospital.
His cell phone and money had been stolen, while two windows of the vehicle were also broken.
“The motive for the fatal shooting is robbery,” Naidu said.
She said police believe the assailant hides in nearby bushes before pouncing on his victims.
Naidu said the suspect is described as tall, with a lean build and light complexion.
Police are appealing to anyone who can assist in tracing the suspect or may have spotted a person fitting the description to contact Swartkops SAPS.
