Police at Duncan Village in East London are investigating a double murder after the bodies of a man and a woman were found just metres apart on a sports field and in nearby bushes.
Police captain Stephen Marais says the body of a man in his thirties was found tied to a pole on the sports field at Scenery Park on Saturday.
Marais says the second victim, a female in her thirties, was found tied up several meters away.
Both victims had sustained open wounds to the abdomen.
Marais says a task team has been established to investigate the murders.
"The police have some leads at the moment, due to the fact that this is a very sensitive case, the police don't want to rush into the situation. We do have some leads and possible suspects. We have got a task team running that's been established to investigate this gruesome murder, and we expect an arrest very soon" Marais said.
