The Southern Kings’ request to the South African Rugby Union to allow them more than two foreign players in Super Rugby has been rejected by the governing body.
The Eastern Cape franchise has 5 overseas players on its books, three more than the allowed number for South African teams in Super Rugby.
EP Rugby Union President Cheeky Watson says all 5 foreign based players will be retained and that its too early to say which two will be used for Super Rugby.
He says they won't fight SARU's decision.
"Right from the beginning we have been dealt a stacked deck and I think that this decision doesn't bother us at all. Bigger the task, bigger the mountain, bigger the challenge, bigger the man and that is our attitude. Our mother body has made a decision and we are going to abide by it, grab the challenge with both hands and move forward" Watson said.
