Port Elizabeth police had their hands full on Monday morning when employees from two cleaning companies took the streets near the Coega Industrial Development Zone.
Police warrant officer Thembi Gwe says employees burnt tyres and barricaded the road on the R332 leading to the Coega IDZ.
Gwe says the protest relates to contracts that were nor renewed by the company.
"Police were called in on Monday morning at Coega IDZ on the R332, the road that leads to Coega where plus minus a 150 people protested, because their contract was not renewed. Police were called in, stun grenades were used to disperse the crowd" she said
