Police have made significant breakthroughs in crime-fighting operations along the Garden Route and the Border area.
Southern Cape Police spokesperson, Captain Malcolm Pojie, says five suspects were arrested in the early hours of this morning in connection with the murder of a 35-year-old spaza shop owner in Thembalethu in George.
He says detectives also seized an undisclosed amount of cash, airtime, two firearms, ammunition and a ford Bantam bakkie that was found to have been stolen in Atlantis.
The suspects are due in court tomorrow.
In seperate police operations in Berlin near East London, police arrested 12 suspects.
Police spokesperson, Captain Ernest Sigobe, says the operation followed a series of burglaries in the area.
He sys police seized stolen goods valued at around 80-thousand rand.
