An Eastern Cape man who has been on the run for 10 years has been handed over to the Duncan Village police in East London after SAPS caught up with him this week.
Thirty-nine-year-old Lungelo Lennox Jama escaped from police custody in 2005.
The police's Thulani Zwane says they received information on his whereabouts and The Durban Flying Squad, Inanda Crime Intelligence and Sydenham police closed in on him.
He says officers stormed Jama's shack in the Sydenham area of Durban and arrested him.
"This suspect was wanted in the Eastern Cape for murder, rape and assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm. After we received information the suspect was arrested in Sydenham where he was in hiding".
