United Democratic Movement leader, Bantu Holomisa, has asked the Public Protector to investigate the Eastern Cape's scholar transport programme.
Holomisa said in a brief statement on Friday that he had received information alleging maladministration within the Eastern Cape Department of Transport which administers the programme on behalf of the provincial Education Department.
The UDM leader says the documents in his possession point to alleged maladministration involving more than R15-million.
He says the documents contain a list of people whose employment is allegedly not transparent or according to procedure.
Holomisa has called on the Public Protector to investigate the matter appropriately for the benefit of the South African public.
