An 18-year-old youth from Plettenberg Bay has been arrested in connection with the murder of an eight-year-old girl.
Western Cape police spokesperson, Captain Malcolm Pojie, says George cluster commander, General Thembisile Patekile, has condemned the senseless murder of Sesona Bayibile of Bossiesgif. She was stabbed to death.
Pojie says the youth handed himself over to police in Knysna early on Tuesday morning.
The deceased who was last seen playing with other friends and the suspect near their home on Sunday afternoon, was reported as missing by her mother at midnight Sunday evening.
The local police immediately mobilised all relevant units to assist with the round the clock-search for the missing child, but could not find her. The search was extended to that of the suspect as he was also reported as missing by his parents on 08th December 2014.
The suspect was taken into custody and detained at the Knysna police holding cells.
