A well-known Plettenberg Bay teacher who allegedly sexually assaulted a 10-year-old boy from his school was granted bail in the local magistrate's court on Friday.
The 42-year-old teacher, who cannot be named until he has pleaded, was arrested on June 22 after the Grade 2 learner's guardian reported the alleged incidents to police.
Police said the boy's guardian suspected something was amiss when the boy suddenly started wetting his bed.
After play therapy with the boy, he revealed to her that the suspect had sexually assaulted him on two occasions during May 2015.
He was released on R3 000 bail under strict conditions including that he has to live outside Plettenberg Bay as the child lives in town. He may also not access the school premises.
