The organisers of Plett Rage at Plettenberg Bay have announced the cancellation of this year's post-matric bash, just a day before it was due to start.
The cancellation of Plett Rage follows hot on the heels of the cancellation of Ballito Rage in KZN earlier this week over a spike in Covid-19 infections.
In a statement on the Plett Rage Facebook page on Thursday, the organisers wrote that the alarming number of positive Covid-19 cases being reported to them by their customers, from their hometowns, had shaken them to the core.
Everyone attending Plett Rage was required to take the mandatory PCR test before making their way to Plettenberg Bay.
Organisers say almost all schools set to attend have positive cases and based on the trajectory of this virus, this is only a tiny percentage of what they are now certain will show up.
The numbers are only going to increase rapidly.
They said that based on the information at their disposal and after consultation with their partners in Plettenberg Bay and Provincial Health, they are forced to cancel PlettRage2021.
On Wednesday the Ballito matric rage in Kwazulu Natal was also cancelled after 36 staff members tested positive.
