A man from Plettenberg Bay has appeared in court in connection with the murder of 66-year-old John Barnes.
Police spokesperson, Captain Malcolm Pojie, says 34-year-old Jeffrey Pienaar of Kwanokuthula was arrested on Monday.
He says his arrest followed the discovery of a firearm at the home of an acquaintance of Piennaar.
The acquaintance has been charged for the illegal possession of a firearm.
Pojie says ballistic tests done on the weapon, believed to have been stolen during the attack on Barnes, had confirmed that it was the murder weapon.
Pienaar appeared in court on Wednesday where his case was postponed to Friday.
