Mossel Bay mom arrested for murder 5 years after child's death

A Mossel Bay women has been arrested for the murder of her three-year-old son who died five years ago.

The 29 year old woman took the boy to the Mossel Bay Provincial Hospital in December 2010 with multiple injuries. 

The toddler had a fractured skull and old wounds which included burn marks on his stomach and broken ribs. 

The child died in hospital the next day. 

The National Prosecuting Authority studied the forensic report as well as medical records and arrested the mother this past weekend. She remains in custody and will appear in court again on 7 October.
