An alleged Plettenberg Bay child murderer abandoned his bail application on Friday.
Last month, the 18-year-old suspect Lulama Candani, who is accused of killing eight-year-old Sesona Bhayibihle, decided to apply for bail - seven months after initially turning the option down.
A large group of anti-child abuse protestors gathered at the court to put pressure on authorities not to grant Candani bail.
He subsequently informed the court that he no longer wished to continue with the bail application.
The development was welcomed by Joanne Barrett of the organisation Women and Men against Child Buse and by Yvette Wilschut of Green Hearts of Plett
Candani remains in custody and will be back in court on the 23rd of November.
