The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has downgraded the Plettenberg Bay Airport, and thus all flights to the town have been cancelled.
The Bitou Municipality says it is aware of the downgrade and expressed concern over the impact it will have on the town's tourism sector.
The CAA says the downgrade is a result of several non-compliances that were highlighted in the Audit Inspection reports.
The decision affects CemAir that offered flights from Johannesburg and Cape Town to Plett.
These flights will now be diverted to the George airport, 100km’s from Plettenberg Bay.
