Plenty of bidders for Eastern Cape Scholar Transport

The Eastern Cape Department of Transport closed its tender period for Scholar Transport bids on Friday.

The tender was for suitably experienced individual local public transport operators to apply to provide daily transport for learners to and from more than 650 schools in the Eastern Cape.

Department spokesperson, Ncedo Kumbaca said 1-thousand 797 bids had been received.

He said the majority of these, namely 620, were from the Amathole region, followed by 400 from OR Tambo and 327 from Chris Hani.

The other bids were from the Sarah Baartman, Joe Gqabi and Alfred Nzo regions.
