Western Cape Health Minister, Theuns Botha, rolled out the pilot phase of the National Health Insurance Scheme in George on Monday.
He told a packed a packed George Town Hall that the emphasis of the NHI will be on providing health care to school children in the Eden District, particularly those in Grade R and Grade One.
However, Botha was also quick to point out that the Western Cape government's participation in the pilot project did not necessarily show its support for the NHI concept as a whole.
He says as there's no final model yet for the National Health Insurance, he believes the Western Cape can contribute to seeing what works and what doesn't.
